I intended this mix to bring the dark to light. Booked as the opening slot Friday morning around 6am amid dust storms, it felt appropriate that I start with darker techy shit, then move into hopeful grimy shit, then evolve into hip hop influenced tech house. This progression was effective and had the dance floor, full of people now grooving, whom weren't there when I started, jumping in sync against the weight of the pre-storm white-out. This mix is special because as the inevitable fell upon us in the form of rain, and dust storms swept across Esplanade in fearful anticipation of the impending precipitation, I was lucky enough to choose and play songs perfectly appropriate songs, before we got drenched. Songs by Justin Martin which Encouraged our dance floor to remember that the "sun will rise again" and that some storms weren't meant to break you, no, they were "meant to build you!" And as the dust cleared, the Bubbles and Bass dance floor filled itself with the courageous and those who braved the elements were rightly rewarded with champagne infused Bubbles. and Bass. If you missed out, don't worry. It was better next year.
