With Burning Man hot topic this week, and on our minds, as we're lucky enough to be going to home to Black Rock City again this year it seemed only fitting to have a Burning Man inspired podcast take the lead spot for the next 2 weeks while we are away getting Dusty. This beautiful dusty playground inspired journey is thanks to the lovely Girl Friday. Who is lucky enough to call two places home; Black Rock City, USA and Newcastle, Australia. Having had 8 journeys home now and well versed behind the decks it's something she is the perfect choice to musically capture. Very grateful Fi, Thanks for putting this together. And in the spirit of Burning Man, I got to the point where I just had to let it go....let it out and into the ether, perfectly imperfect. I reflected a lot during the programming as I tried to convey the sounds & internal journeys of days spent in the dust - it's randomness, its inspirational rides to the portaloos that get you side tracked for hours, its tribal core and it's incredibly epic moments. To truly capture that mix, takes 7 days in the dust. The thing I love most about the music in Black Rock City is dancing on that big, white, soft, dusty playground and the way a quality sound system scopes out the huge playa arena effortlessly. Plenty of room to open your mind & spread your wings. The intro and outro are field recordings taken on playa in 2005. Hope you enjoy...
