From the Archives: Live at Opulent Temple, Sacred Dance 2004

Another from the (deep) archives, my live set from Opulent Temple's Wednesday night Sacred Dance 'white party' in 2004(!) So why the fuck would you care what I played in 2004? It's kinda lol. It's purely a nostalgic/self indulgent unearthed arcana of my playa sets over the years so they can live on one playlist on Soundcloud for my own entertainment. That said, if you liked progressive breaks and progressive and tribal house of this era, there's things to like here. This was the 2nd OT camp. I was still playing vinyl, with a few tracks on CD. This was also the first iteration of the 'O-Pod', and when the door slammed too hard it would make the needle on the records jump. Thus, around the 50 minute mark you'll hear 2 horrendous needle jumps that I could have edited out but at this point 15 years later, who cares? It starts with my Sacred Dance speech, which sets the intention for why we do what we do, and if you've heard me speak before my sets before, you'll hear a strikingly consistent message all those years ago, but in this case with a "we're going to vote George Bush out of office" wishful thinking months before his 2004 re-election. :-( Then it's (IMHO) gorgeous playa music, opening with a Sarah McLachlan remix which in '04 was a sure way to get all the women on the dance floor, and it worked. Ironically, it's a Hybrid remix, who stepped in that night to play after me after Sandra Collins no-showed. I also did a playa music taboo, which is play the same song in a big set 2 years in a row, but that's because when I played Cass's - Mind Rewind in 2003, no one was there to hear how awesome it was, and it needed to be heard!
